I dreamt I dwelt in marble halls…

…because marble doesn’t creak like wooden floorboards.   Every time I go past the boys’ room to get to ours, the floor creaks alarmingly and, nine times out of ten it wakes them up. Just like everything else. Alas.

Scene: Baby asleep on footrest in sitting room. Dog standing at baby’s head with squeak toy in mouth.

Squeak Toy: SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK…
    Baby: Zzzzzzzzzzz…

Mr Splog and I look on with interest.

Mr Splog: So… did we just luck out, or have we traumatised our child into being able to sleep through this?

(Don’t worry – I’m not smug. She does more than her fair share of not sleeping.)
