Insights from the Garden

4 August, 2019
Posted in: Boys, Daniel

Me: Oh look at the lovely sunflowers in that garden.

Daniel: I don’t think they really go with the look of our road.

Me: Why not?

Him: They say ‘young people frolicking in the sun’.

Me: And what is the general look of our road then?

Him: Old people tending to brightly coloured shrubs.

Me: Actually, that is true.

There is a certain cruelty in the unreserved voice of the young.

There are some plants I cannot grow, sunflowers are amongst their number. I do like a good sunflower, I just cannot grow them. Why not plant some next year, spread the anarchy!

They are harsh at times, yes.

I think I may have black thumbs so not at all sure that I would be able to grow a sunflower but I can try, I suppose…
