Young trendy person in shop in Temple Bar: I love your briefcase, is it vintage?
Me: Actually, I got it as a present when I finished my first job.
Her: So it is then!

Going past tactless into downright rude, I think.

When I was pregnant I heard that H & M sold nice maternity clothes, and I went into H & M in Dundrum and asked for the maternity section. The teenager serving there looked me up and down and said “No, we don’t have anything like that. This is a young person’s shop.”

Regrettably, I think it wasn’t. Love your H&M story though.
